Oxidants and organic peroxides both have strong oxidizing properties, and the oxidized substance releases a large amount of heat, making it highly susceptible to combustion and explosion events. Most peroxides are prone to combustion and burn quickly and violently, as peroxide oxidation can release a large amount of oxygen to aid combustion. So when engaging in the transportation of dangerous goods, the following points should be noted during the transportation process:
1. Organic peroxides should be transported by temperature controlled box trucks; If the carriage is made of iron bottom plate, protective padding should be laid. The carriage should be insulated, rainproof, ventilated, and kept dry.
2. The carriage and accompanying tools for transporting goods shall not be contaminated with acids, coal, sugar, flour, starch, metal powder, grease, phosphorus, sulfur, detergents, lubricants, or other soft, powdery combustible substances.
3. Dangerous goods with unstable properties or those that can cause severe reactions during transportation due to polymerization or decomposition should be added with stabilizers; Some goods that will accelerate decomposition at room temperature should be controlled in temperature.
4. The mixture of organic peroxides shall be transported under the specified conditions for the highest hazardous organic peroxide contained, and the self accelerating decomposition temperature (SADT) shall be confirmed. If necessary, effective temperature control measures shall be taken.
5. When transporting organic peroxides that require temperature control, the environmental temperature inside the transportation components should be regularly checked and recorded, and temperature changes should be monitored in a timely manner. If necessary, effective temperature control measures should be taken.
6. During transportation, if the ambient temperature exceeds the control temperature, corresponding remedial measures should be taken; If the ambient temperature exceeds the emergency temperature, relevant emergency procedures should be activated.
7. For oxidants and organic oxides that require the addition of stabilizers or temperature controlled transportation, the packaging should be carefully inspected during operation, and attention should be paid to whether there is any leakage or expansion (drum) in the packaging. If any abnormalities are found, the shipment should be refused.
8. During loading and unloading, friction, vibration, falling, dragging, rolling, and impact are prohibited. Prevent damage to packaging and containers.
9. When packaging is found to be damaged during loading and unloading, it is not allowed to change the packaging of the damaged parts on their own, and spilled materials should not be put into the original packaging, but should be dealt with separately. During operation, it is not allowed to step on or crush spilled materials, and it is prohibited to use metal and combustible materials (such as paper and wood) to handle spilled materials.
10. Goods packaged in metal containers should be placed in a single layer. When stacking is required, there should be non combustible material cushioning and reinforcement between the packaging materials that are compatible with the transported goods.
11. It is strictly prohibited to mix impurities, especially acids, heavy metal oxides, amines, etc., during the loading and unloading of organic peroxides.
